State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has finally rolled out the beta stage of its 4G connectivity. In the first phase, the trial of 4G network sites has been started in Punjab's Amritsar, Ferozepur, and Pathankot. As part of this launch, BSNL is also going to offer prepaid SIMs to collect feedback on network quality from users.
The trial started at 200 sites
BSNL completed a Proof of Concept (POC) of India 4G stack equipment across 200 live 4G network sites in Firozpur, Pathankot, and Amritsar cities of Punjab. BSNL's official statement said that the beta launch of BSNL 4G services took place on July 15 in Amritsar, in which PK Purwar, CMD, BSNL was present.
BSNL is planning to deploy these sites not only in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai but also in remote and rural areas and unconnected areas. The telecom operator expects a 20% increase in revenue from its 4G services.
Telecom stacks have been developed in the country itself
Union IT and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made a big announcement regarding BSNL 4G in May. The Union Minister had said that BSNL's 4G network would be upgraded to 5G by November-December. Union Minister Vaishnav said, "We have developed a 4G-5G telecom stack in India. Deployment of these stacks has started with BSNL. 200 sites have been set up between Chandigarh and Dehradun and will be made live soon." Will go."
TCS got the biggest contract
BSNL has placed an advance purchase order of over Rs 19,000 crore to Tata Consultancy Services and ITI Ltd for the deployment of a 4G network covering over 1.23 lakh sites. TCS will look after the installation and maintenance work for BSNL's 4G network at around one lakh sites across the country. Let us tell you that in February this year, the board of BSNL approved a deal of about Rs 24,500 crore for equipment from a consortium led by TCS.
