Here's a classic recipe for delicious homemade french fries:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin, even strips, about 1/4 inch wide.

  2. Soak the potato strips in cold water for 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. Drain the potato strips and pat them dry with a clean towel.

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F.

  5. Fry the potato strips in batches for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Use a slotted spoon or wire mesh strainer to remove the fries from the hot oil, and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  7. Sprinkle the hot fries with salt to taste.

  8. Repeat with the remaining potato strips until all of the fries are cooked.

  9. Serve hot with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favourite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
