Electricity is one of the basic needs of the people. People have to pay the electricity bill according to the amount of electricity they use. However, now free electricity is also being provided to the people by many state governments. In this sequence, the work of providing relief to the people has also been done by the Government of Karnataka. People will now be provided free electricity in Karnataka.
People will get free electricity through the Congress government's guarantee scheme Gruha Jyothi, under which 200 units of free electricity will be given to households. The registration work is also going on regarding this. From July 1, all eligible consumers can get free electricity. They will get this month's bills in August. Consumers can also visit electricity offices and complete their registration.
Griha Jyoti Yojana-
Registration is being done continuously on behalf of the people for the facilities being provided through the government. Almost two weeks after inviting applications through the government, the registration figure for Griha Jyoti Yojana has crossed one crore. Energy Department said that there will be no time limit for the scheme and eligible beneficiaries can apply at any time.
Online Application-
However, only those who apply before July 25 will get free electricity for July. Despite initial glitches, registration soon picked up. The scheme provides free electricity for up to 200 units per month to households. Registration can be done at Bangalore Forest, Grama Forest, and Karnataka Forest offices or online through the Seva Sindhu portal.
