Lamayuru Village: Ever since the birth of the earth, we humans have been making many efforts from knowing about the moon to reaching there. Lamayuru village, about 120 km from Leh, is just like the moon. It is also called the Moonland of India. If scientists believe, the geography of this village is similar to that of the Moon.
There are neither trees nor plants like the moon in this village and the pressure here is also very low. It looks exactly like the moon in appearance. But this dry area was not always like this.
It is believed that there used to be a lake here. This lake used to be here about 40 thousand years ago. It is said that in the 11th century, a monastery was established here by removing this lake.
Lamayuru is one of the most popular monasteries of Leh-Ladakh. Scientists come here to research Mars and Moon. Here you will enjoy walking on the moon.
