Nowadays, due to a sedentary lifestyle, the problem of diabetes has increased a lot. Young people are also increasingly falling prey to it. Now one thing is certain there is no cure for it, so to keep it under control, it is important to include a healthy diet in the routine along with a healthy lifestyle. According to health expert Rati Tehri, diabetic patients must include zinc in their diet. Let us know from them why zinc is important to control diabetes.
Why is zinc important to keep diabetes under control?
Experts say that our body is a house where there are many special rooms which have different functions. One of these rooms is the pancreas. There are groups of workers in the pancreas which we know as beta cells. These beta cells work to produce insulin. At the same time, people who have diabetes have less zinc in their body and beta cells need zinc to function. Due to zinc deficiency, they are unable to produce insulin. In such a situation, people who are taking injections for this should include zinc-rich foods in their diet. This improves insulin production.
Consumption of zinc boosts metabolism and helps in controlling diabetes. To overcome zinc deficiency, diabetic patients can consume seeds, almonds, lentils, oats, chicken breast, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, and cheese in their diet. Apart from this, adequate sleep and proper exercise are also important to control diabetes.
