Monsoon has started across the country. Rain for a few days and then after the scorching heat, the risk of many diseases has started increasing due to frequent changes in this type of weather and temperature. Health experts say all people need to take special precautions regarding health in this season. Your slight negligence can increase the risk of many types of diseases.
Health experts say, every year during the monsoon days, the health sector is under a lot of pressure. In this, cases of two types of diseases have been seen the most. First- problems caused by contaminated food-water and second mosquito-borne diseases. Both these situations can increase your problems in many cases. All people need to keep protecting themselves from these diseases.
What says the doctor?
In a conversation with Amar Ujala, Shrey Srivastava, a doctor of internal medicine at a hospital in Greater Noida, says, due to the moist environment, the dirt caused by rain, and the temperature change, this season is considered most favorable for the growth of bacteria-viruses. For this reason, many diseases related to digestion start increasing along with food poisoning, and stomach infections.
On the other hand, water logging due to rain is very suitable for the breeding of mosquitoes. Due to this, there is a risk of dengue-chikungunya. Thousands of patients with these diseases come to the fore every year.
Diseases caused by contaminated food and water
The risk of diseases related to digestive disorders increases due to problems in handling and cleaning food during the rainy season. Typhoid is one such contaminated waterborne disease that may start with fever with profuse sweating, headache- body aches, and abdominal pain. Typhoid is caused by eating unwashed or spoiled food and drinking contaminated water. Similarly, due to contaminated water and food, the patients of with diarrhea, stomach infection, vomiting, and diarrhea also increase every year.
Mosquito-borne diseases
The rainy season is favorable for the breeding of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes lay eggs in clean frozen water, due to which the risk of diseases like dengue-chikungunya and malaria increases considerably. Diseases like dengue are also known to be fatal in severe cases. This is the reason why everyone should take measures to avoid mosquito bites. Dengue mosquitoes bite more during the day and malaria mosquitoes bite more in the evening.
How to take care of health in monsoon?
Health experts say it is important that we all be especially alert during rainy days. Take care of food-water cleanliness, and hygienic maintenance. Consume fruits and vegetables only after washing them thoroughly. Do not eat undercooked or stale food at all, it is the biggest risk.
Apart from this, cleanliness is also very important to prevent mosquitoes. Do not let water stagnate, keep emptying the water of any empty vessel, cooler, or pot from time to time. To prevent mosquitoes, wear full sleeve clothes and use mosquito nets while sleeping at night. By keeping these few things in mind, you can stay away from diseases occurring in monsoons.
