In Sanatan Dharma auspicious and inauspicious times are stated for every action. This time and moment is calculated by the Hindu calendar and astrology. Work done in auspicious moments bears good fruit, while good deeds done in inauspicious times or moments also bear bad fruit.

Therefore good deeds must be done at auspicious times. At the same time, some precautions should be taken in inauspicious times. Kharmas (Kamurta) is also considered to be such a time. Good deeds are forbidden. This year, Kharmas (Kamurta) will be from 16 December 2021 to 14 January 2022.

What is Kharmas (Kamurta)?

During Kharmas (Kamurta) the sun is in a dirty state so auspicious deeds should not be done during this time. In addition, when the Sun enters Jupiter's zodiac sign Dhan and Pisces, Jupiter's influence ends. So during this time functions like marriage are not performed. Because marriage requires both Sun and Jupiter to be in a strong position. Jupiter being the cause of marriage planet. In such a situation the decline of Jupiter is considered inauspicious for marriage. The Sun stays in each zodiac sign for 1 month. Therefore, good deeds do not happen for 1 month. This time is called Kharmas (Kamurta).

That is why good deeds are not done

According to religious belief, the movement of the sun is slow during Kharmas, so any work done during this period does not bear auspicious fruit. Therefore, at this time, except for marriage, any auspicious act like buying a house, entering a house, buying a car, starting a new work is prohibited. Apart from this house construction, shaving, yajna, naming, engagement etc. are also not done. Kharmas will also start on this 16th December as soon as the Sun enters Dhan Rashi.
