What would you do if you were asked to make a video call? You will take the help of some video calling app on your phone or laptop. If you are going to make a video call from a mobile phone then it is necessary to have WiFi internet or SIM network, but this will not happen in the future.

Whether you want to watch a live cricket match on a mobile phone or any video on YouTube or study online, there will be no need for internet and SIM cards for this. This will be possible in the future thanks to the new technology Direct-to-Mobile (D2M). For this, only a special type of chip will be required.

Let us tell you, that Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apoorva Chandra has said that the domestic Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology will soon be tested in 19 cities and for this emerging technology, 470-582 MHz spectrum ( MHz spectrum) will be strongly advocated for reservation.

What is Direct-to-Mobile broadcasting?

Direct-to-mobile (D2M) service is a new technology that allows watching live TV and video on mobile without an internet connection. This technology works like FM radio, which uses radio waves to transmit audio to the mobile.

Benefits of direct-to-mobile service

  • First, it eliminates the need for an Internet connection, making it more accessible to people living in remote areas.
  • Second, it can improve the quality of video transmission, because it does not depend on Internet traffic.
  • Third, it can reduce mobile data consumption.

It will be easier for education or competitive exams

D2M service is likely to be launched next year. This will also make it easier to take online training on mobile for education or competitive exams. Apart from this, information related to other areas including health and agriculture can also be obtained on mobile without the internet. This will prove to be very beneficial for remote areas. This scheme has to reach the homes of those people whom even TV has not reached yet. The purpose of this technology is to reduce the load on the 5G network.

Recently, under the pilot project, D2M technology has been started as a trial in some places. This includes the names of Bengaluru, Duty Path and Noida.

Along with these things, Apoorva Chandra has also said that there are 80 crore smartphone users in the country, who access 69 percent of the content only in video format. According to Chandra, due to excessive video loading, the network becomes slow, after which the problem of video buffering arises. D2M technology can become a solution to these problems.
