A friend of mine often advises me to give up non-veg. According to him, the protein that I get from non-veg can also be obtained from pulses and vegetables. You might have heard similar things from many people. Many people even say that eating meat increases obesity.

It also causes heart-related problems because it contains cholesterol. For these reasons, eating red meat or non-veg is prohibited. But does eating it cause so many problems? Nutritionist Anjali Mukherjee has shared information related to this on her social media handle. Let us know what she says about whether one should eat non-veg or not.

These are the benefits of non-vegetarian food

Diets that include meat, fish, eggs and dairy are good sources of protein. However, protein is also found in grain products, nuts and pulses, but these protein sources are incomplete.

Vitamin B12 and iron are found in good quantities in meat, fish, eggs and milk. It is very important for the formation of red blood cells and nerve fibres. If our body does not produce enough red blood cells it can lead to iron deficiency, which is called anemia. Deficiency of iron or vitamin B12 can cause fatigue.

Eggs as well as meat, chicken and fish protect our body from extreme cold weather during winter. Eggs and fish provide us with essential vitamins, proteins, nutrients and minerals that are good for our health.

Is it right to eat non-veg?

However, non-veg dishes indeed have a higher fat content. Calories in it are also high compared to plant-based dishes, but it does not mean that you will become fat by eating it. This is a myth and it all depends on how you plan your diet. Therefore eating non-veg is not wrong at all.

Eat non-veg in a balance

Even if you follow a vegetarian diet, it will not benefit you. It is very important to balance anything. Refined flour, sugar, dairy products or fried foods do not contain vegetables and if you eat too much of these things, you can gain weight. Whether you eat non-veg dishes or vegetarian dishes, you have to take care of the right balance.

Consume lean proteins

For non-vegetarians, lean proteins can be made a part of their diet. You can consume grilled fish or chicken soup. This is a great option for a healthy choice. By consuming it your body gets lean protein. It contains lower saturated fat and hence is a well-rounded diet.

What kind of non-veg diet should you stay away from?

Nutritionist Anjali says that you should avoid eating red meat and organic meat. It has a high saturated fat content. To keep your health healthy, avoid eating processed, fried and canned meat.

One thing to keep in mind is that your diet should include a variety of nutrients. You should consume different food groups so that your weight can be maintained.
