What should be eaten in diabetes?

Diabetic patients must include nutritious things in their diet.

Green, leafy vegetables

Green, leafy vegetables are a good source of potassium, vitamin A, and calcium. Protein and fiber can also be obtained from this. Researchers found that eating green, leafy vegetables can benefit diabetic patients.

Fatty fish
It is also very beneficial to make fatty fish a part of the diet. It contains omega-3 fatty acids which are very beneficial in promoting heart and brain health along with protecting against problems caused by diabetes.

Walnuts
People suffering from diabetes must include nuts in their diet. Like fish, nuts also contain fatty acids that help keep the heart healthy. Walnuts are especially rich in omega-3 called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Diabetics may have a higher risk of heart disease or stroke, so it is important to consume these fatty acids.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and lemons can benefit people suffering from diabetes. The vitamin C present in it helps in protecting against many types of diseases by increasing the body's immunity.

What should not be eaten in diabetes?

Diabetes can be controlled by changing the diet. Always consume only those things that have a low glycemic index (GI). Foods with high GI increase blood sugar rapidly. There is a risk of increasing sugar levels from white bread, white rice, pasta, potatoes, chocolate, cookies, cakes, cold drinks, and fruit-packed juices. You need to minimize the consumption of these things or avoid them altogether.

People with diabetes must consult a doctor about the appropriate diet for themselves.
