While some people suffer from dandruff seasonally, others suffer from it almost every season.

Why does dandruff occur?
Dandruff in hair is not only caused by cold weather but there can be many other reasons, such as oily scalp infection, using too much shampoo, formation of dead cells in the scalp, excessive growth of yeast called Malassezia. Go, use care spray, hair gel, or hair curlers. Apart from this, applying chemical-based colors on hair, taking excessive stress, etc.

Will applying oil to hair cure dandruff?
Many dermatologists believe that applying oil on the head increases the problem of dandruff instead of providing relief. Applying excessive oil on the hair causes the yeast called Malassezia to accumulate in the scalp, which leads to overgrowth of this yeast, after which excessive dandruff starts appearing.

What kind of anti-dandruff shampoo to use?
As we told you a major reason for dandruff is the use of the wrong shampoo. When you buy shampoo, take special care of these things.

1. While buying shampoo, read its ingredients. It should contain 2 percent Ketoconazole Zinc Pyrithione, 2 percent Selenium Sulphide or Ciclopirox.

2. Don't wash your hair only with anti-dandruff shampoo. Let it soak into the scalp. You take a capful of anti-dandruff shampoo, add a few drops of water, and rub it into your scalp just like applying oil. Leave it for about 10 minutes and then wash it. You can use your regular shampoo conditioner over it.

3. You have to maintain this process as 1-2 washes are not enough. You may have to use it once or twice a week for about 7 to 8 weeks. Even after so many efforts, if dandruff is not leaving you, then you may have inflammatory disorders like psoriasis, sebopsoriasis, etc. In such a situation, you should contact a dermatologist.
