The Health Ministry said on Friday, 121 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in India in the last 24 hours, and the number of active cases of corona in the country is now 856. One new death has been reported in Maharashtra in 24 hours. A maximum of 841 new cases were reported in a single day on December 31, 2023, since then the daily infection cases have been quite controlled.
Coronavirus has become weak
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told the Lok Sabha on Friday that COVID-19 has mutated 223 times across the world so far, many new sub-variants of Corona have emerged but now the risk of serious diseases is seen to be less. The Health Minister said that Covid-19 will remain the same as influenza and its current variants are not more deadly.
He said during Question Hour, "When a virus mutates more than 100 times, its harmful effects are reduced. Covid has also mutated many times. Till now, the Covid virus has mutated 223 times. Influenza Like COVID-19 may remain with us forever, there may be a risk of people getting affected by it twice a year.
Risk reduced from new variants
The Health Minister said, the new sub-variants of COVID-19 are not that deadly and no serious negative impact is being seen from it. We all worked together during the pandemic and saw positive results. To combat Corona, India has not only protected the people of the country by giving them vaccines, but we have also saved people from Corona by sending vaccines abroad.
Infection may increase again
Regarding the global risks of Corona, recently scientists have once again indicated its increase. Experts have issued an alert saying that all people need to remain cautious regarding Corona. There is a possibility of a surge in cases of infection due to Omicron and its mutated variants. China's National Health Commission (NHC) said that the COVID-19 situation in the country is currently well under control, but there may be a risk of infection increasing again during the spring. The risk of COVID-19 may increase again due to inter-regional movement and changes in weather in the coming months, especially during the spring. There is a need to continue taking preventive measures regarding this.
