Maurala Fish Pakoda is a traditional Bengali dish. It is prepared from maurala, a small freshwater fish found in India and Bangladesh. This delicious snack can be served as a starter or as a snack. In Bengal, people eat it with rice and lentils. In this recipe, the pakodas are fried in a little mustard oil but you can also deep fry them. Ingredients for making Morala fish dumplings-
500 grams fish
1 tsp red chili powder
Besan as required
2 tbsp rice flour


1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tsp turmeric
1/4 cup mustard oil
salt as required
2 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tbsp ginger paste

How to make Morala Fish Pakoda -
First of all, take out the skin of the fish and wash it well. Put the fish in a bowl and add turmeric, red chili powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, rice flour, gram flour, and salt and mix well. Make sure the fish is coated well with the marination spices and keep it aside for 20 minutes. Now heat the oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish in it. Cook till golden brown from both sides. Once crisp and cooked, garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with chutney or with food.
