1. Not fasting properly
For better results of the lipid profile test, you are advised to fast for 10 to 12 hours, but some people do not follow such instructions. Drinking tea, green tea and black coffee increases the LDL level which can distort the cholesterol readings. Therefore, have dinner early in the evening and get tested in the morning.
2. Drink less water
While getting the cholesterol test done, keep in mind that you should keep your body hydrated a day before, but many people drink less water during this period, which affects the results. If you do not try to avoid dehydration, the test results will not be correct.
3. Eating food rich in fat
Doctors suggest that you should not eat food rich in fat about 48 hours before the cholesterol test, otherwise the LDL level will become high. It is better that you control your food habits, and eat healthy and low-fat foods.
4. Taking stress
Generally, people fear that their cholesterol level may turn out to be high in the test results, hence they become stressed due to this. Apart from this, if you are under tension due to any other reason then the result of the lipid profile test will not be correct.
5. Drinking alcohol
Drinking alcohol also affects the results of lipid profile tests, hence doctors advise that one should stop drinking alcohol 48 hours before taking the sample so that the readings are correct. It is better to leave alcohol forever.
