We often use the term 'broken heart' after the breakup of a love relationship or some tragic incident. But do you know that it is not just an emotion but can also be a serious disease? This is called 'broken heart syndrome' or 'takotsubo cardiomyopathy'.

Broken heart syndrome is a condition in which a part of the heart suddenly becomes temporarily weak, which reduces the pumping of the heart. This can happen after a major emotional stress, such as the death of a loved one, a serious illness diagnosis, or a relationship breakdown. However, sometimes this condition can occur without any apparent reason.

Symptoms of Broken Heart Syndrome
- Sudden severe chest pain, like a heart attack
- Shortness of breath
- To sweat
- Dizziness
- Unconsciousness

Is this a heart attack?
The symptoms of broken heart syndrome may be similar to the symptoms of a heart attack. However, there are some important differences between these two. In a heart attack, there is usually a blockage in the veins, whereas this does not happen in broken heart syndrome. Furthermore, broken heart syndrome usually resolves within a few weeks or months, whereas heart attacks can have serious consequences. Therefore, if you experience these symptoms, consult a doctor immediately so that a correct diagnosis can be made.

Treatment of broken heart syndrome
There is no specific cure for broken heart syndrome, but some measures can be taken to reduce the symptoms and help in faster recovery. These include:
- Relaxation and stress management
- Medications, such as beta blockers and blood thinners
- Medical Care

How to Avoid Broken Heart Syndrome
There is no sure way to prevent broken heart syndrome, but its risk can be reduced by adopting a healthy lifestyle and stress control techniques. These include- a healthy diet, regular exercise and adequate sleep.

If you are experiencing any emotional stress, talk to a close friend, family member, or mental health professional. Suppressing your emotions can increase the risk of broken heart syndrome. Broken heart syndrome is a serious condition, but it can be cured. With timely diagnosis and treatment, you can overcome this challenge.
