France's dangerous missile Brimstone can be installed in the MQ-9B Predator drones received by India. This is being considered. European defense company MBDA says it is ready to consider the possibility of integrating its missile Brimstone on the MQ-9B Predator armed drone to be delivered to India.
Why is the Brimstone missile special?
MBDA's Brimstone missile is about two meters long. It has been fitted with a modern airframe and updated software. It can be launched from military vehicles or air. When launched from the ground, its strike range is up to 13 kilometers. Destroys the enemy coming within this radius. If it is fired from an aircraft, its range will be up to 60 kilometers. If it is released on the enemy from a helicopter, it will hit the target accurately within a radius of 40 kilometers.
Three billion dollar deal
To strengthen the surveillance system of the armed forces, India's Defense Ministry is purchasing 31 Predator (MQ-9B SeaGuardian) drones from the US for three billion dollars. This deal is in process. "We are ready to consider any proposal for integration of Brimstone missiles on the MQ-9B Predator drone being procured by India," MBDA officials said in response to a question.
Britain has already taken the decision
Britain has already decided to load Brimstone missiles on its fleet of MQ-9B drones of the Royal Air Force (RAF) to enhance their capabilities. Officials said the missile was deployed in Afghanistan and Libya and was widely appreciated for its ability to conduct surgical strikes.
