The Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Supreme Court to unearth black money will soon submit its interim report to the top court. SIT Vice-Chairman Justice (Retd) Arijit Pasayat gave this information here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, in its first cabinet meeting after coming to power in May 2014, had approved the formation of the SIT as per the directions of the Supreme Court. In the last nine years, SIT has submitted seven interim reports to the apex court.
Justice Pasayat held a meeting at his residence here on Tuesday with officials of the Central and State governments regarding the detection and prevention of black money in the country.
"The meeting of officials of the Income Tax Department, Enforcement Directorate, Customs, and Excise Department, and the Central Indirect Tax Department lasted for more than two hours in which discussions were held to detect and curb black money in India and abroad," he told reporters. The methods to be implemented were discussed.
