  • According to experts, if you are taking birth control pills to balance hormones and regularize periods in PCOD, then it can cause much harm to the body. This is not the right way to manage PCOD.
  • Birth control pills contain high amounts of estrogen. Due to this, there is a risk of clot formation in women.
  • Pills cause differences in the levels of estrogen and progesterone. Due to this insulin sensitivity is affected. It increases insulin resistance by reducing insulin sensitivity.
  • This also affects women's sexual desire or sex drive. The synthetic hormones in the pills and the reduced levels of testosterone hormone affect libido i.e. sex drive.
  • These pills reduce the value of Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Magnesium and Zinc. An imbalance of nutrients can lead to weight gain, fluid retention, mood swings and depression.
  • The increase in estrogen increases the growth of yeast in the gut, which leads to the growth of Candida (a species of yeast) and makes you crave sugar and carbs more.
