The Ayushman Bharat scheme is being run by the government to provide better health facilities to the poor and deprived of the country. This scheme was started in the year 2018. Now this government has changed the name of this scheme to Pradhan Mantri Jan-Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Under the scheme, eligible families are given health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh by the government. Eligible families are given Ayushman Golden Cards, showing that they can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in the listed hospitals.
Ayushman Golden Card is valid in more than 13,000 government and private hospitals across the country. You can get an Ayushman Golden Card made both online and offline. Through this card, treatment facilities for about 1500 diseases including serious diseases like cancer and heart disease are provided. All old and new diseases are included in this scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Jan-Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is paperless and cashless. This means that the Ayushman cardholder will only have to show the card in the hospital. Neither any documents nor money have to be given to the hospital. Hospitals cannot charge extra money for treatment from beneficiaries. Under this scheme, the beneficiary can get treatment anywhere in the country.
