If you also use the Telegram app, then there is big news for you. Cyber security firm ESET has detected a major flaw in Telegram's Android app, taking advantage of which hackers can hack Telegram at any time. Apart from this, hackers can also send you harmful and damaging files by taking advantage of this flaw. Information about this flaw was received only last month but the company has come to know about it now.
The report says that the name of this bug is "EvilVideo" and with the help of this, dangerous files are being sent to people. It has a video of just 30 seconds. These bugged files are being shared in Telegram channels, groups, and private chats.
Usually, when we get a video on Telegram, it is downloaded automatically. ESET has said in its report that this bug is active on the old version of Telegram. If your Telegram app is version 10.14.5 or earlier, then you should update your app immediately.
ESET identified this bug on 26 June 2024 and Telegram was informed about it at the same time, but the company did not take it seriously at that time. This bug has been fixed with Telegram's Android version 10.14.5.
