Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being considered a revolution in the medical field. Health experts say that with the help of technological development in this field, the unnecessary pressure on the health sector will be reduced. In recent research, scientists said that with the help of AI, cancer screening will be easy, and timely detection of disease and treatment of disease will help. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally, killing millions of people every year.

To understand how AI can be helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, a team of researchers conducted a study that showed very promising results.

Research published in The Lancet Oncology journal states that AI-enabled mammography screening could help detect breast cancer with greater ease and quality than standard screening. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death due to cancer in women.

Breast cancer screening will help
Researchers at the University of Sweden found that AI-assisted mammography could help in the easier detection of breast tumors. This will not only reduce the pressure on radiologists but also help in the timely detection of breast cancer cases.

A study of more than 80,000 Swedish women found AI could help improve cancer screening. Experts predict that in the coming years, with the help of AI, increasing cancer risks can be reduced globally.

What did the study find?
80 thousand women involved in the research were divided into two groups. The first included intervention (40,003 women) and the second included women (40,030) who underwent AI-assisted screening. The study found AI-powered screening to be more effective than standard cancer screening.

According to the report of the study, with the help of AI, it was easier to find the problem with 20 percent more accuracy. The risk of getting wrong reports is also very less in this. Cancer experts say that if the problem is diagnosed in time, it not only makes the treatment of the disease easier but also increases the chances of survival of the patient.

What do experts say?
Christina Lang, lead researcher and associate professor in diagnostic radiology at the university, says AI will benefit from timely diagnosis amid rising cancer risks.

In addition, screen-reading for radiologists has also seen a reduction of 44 percent. It is estimated that using the technology to understand the reports of about 40,000 screening tests in the AI cohort saved five months of radiologists' time.

The pressure on the radiologist will be less
The team of researchers says that on average a radiologist can take 50 mammogram readings in an hour. It has been said in the study that it can be doubled through AI, as well as the special thing is that it also reduces the possibility of false reports.

The researchers say that the results so far are very promising and we hope that AI will make it easier than ever to diagnose problems in areas other than cancer.
