New guidelines released in August 2023
In August this year, new guidelines were issued by the government regarding new SIM cards, which are coming into effect from December 1. While issuing new guidelines, the government said that in the last 8 months, 52 lakh mobile connections have been closed in the country, while 67,000 dealers have been blacklisted. FIR has been registered against about 300 SIM dealers. About 66,000 WhatsApp accounts involved in the fake SIM card gang have also been blocked.

SIM Dealer Verification

All dealers selling SIM cards will have to undergo police verification. If a dealer does not do this and sells SIM cards in bulk, he can be fined Rs 10 lakh and can also be sentenced to jail. All SIM dealers will have to compulsorily register.

Aadhar for duplicate sim
If for some reason you get a new SIM card for your existing number, you will have to provide an Aadhaar card again and also address proof.

Limited sim card
Now only a limited number of SIM cards will be issued on one ID card. If someone is running a business then he will be able to get more SIMs. A common man can take a maximum 9 SIM cards on one ID.

De-activation of SIM card
According to the new rule, a new SIM card will be issued from that number only 90 days after the number is closed. A new SIM will not be issued from the same number immediately after the SIM is discontinued.
