The opening pair of Lucknow did not work
Lucknow made a big experiment by sending Deepak Hooda for the opening along with Quinton Dickock but he could not perform as expected. Jason Behrendorff bowled a slower ball and dodged Hooda to get caught by Tim David. Then on the next ball, he dismissed Prerak Mankad without opening the account. Till the Powerplay, the Lucknow team could manage only 35 runs for two wickets in the first six overs. In the next over, Chawla trapped Dickock in his spin, who returned to the pavilion by giving Kishan a catch. After this, Stoinis and Captain Krunal took over the innings of the team. Both kept hitting boundaries on bad balls and took the team's score to 100 runs in 14 overs.
Brilliant start for Mumbai
Chasing the target of 178 runs, Mumbai Indians got off to a great start. The pair Rohit and Ishaan took the team's score beyond 50 runs inside the powerplay. In the powerplay, Mumbai scored 58 runs without losing any wickets. After this, Rohit Sharma became the victim of Ravi Bishnoi by scoring 37 runs. In the next over, Kishan completed his half-century, but Bishnoi dismissed him too for 59, bringing Lucknow back into the match. As soon as these two were out, Mumbai's run rate stopped and in an attempt to make a big shot, Suryakumar Yadav was also dismissed after scoring seven runs.
After losing three wickets for 115 runs, the target of 178 runs was not easy for Mumbai on the Lucknow pitch. In such a situation, Tim David partnered with Nehal Wadhera, but Wadhera was dismissed after playing a slow inning of 16 runs in 20 balls. However, Tim David remained at the other end and played big shots to keep Mumbai in the match. Meanwhile, Vishnu Vinod also got out in an attempt to play a big shot after scoring two runs and the Mumbai team was in trouble.
In the end, Cameron Green and Tim David tried their best, but Mohsin Khan did not allow 11 runs in the last over. The Mumbai team could only manage 172 runs and lost the match by five runs. Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur took two wickets each for Lucknow. Mohsin Khan got a wicket.
