There are 62 foreign players. Even though this auction took place outside the country, the Indian government is still going to earn a bumper income from the auction.

The government will get 89.40 crores

The players will be paid only after deducting TDS from the Rs 639.15 crore spent by the 10 franchises on 182 players in the IPL auction. This TDS will go into the pocket of the Government of India. 639.15 crores have been spent in this auction. In this, bids of Rs 383.40 crore will be placed on Indian players and Rs 255.75 crore on foreign players. According to the rules, 10 percent TDS is levied on Indian players and TDS on foreign players. According to this, the TDS of Indian players is Rs 38.34 crore and the TDS of foreign players is Rs 51.15 crore. That is, the amount received by the players from this mega auction will bring Rs 89.49 crore to the treasury of the Government of India.

Historic bid on Rishabh Pant

India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player to be sold in the Indian Premier League, beating defending champion KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction here on Sunday, but Venkatesh Iyer unexpectedly got a very big bid.

Shreyas Iyer gets 26 crore 75 lakhs

Captain Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title this year, joined Punjab Kings for Rs 26 crore 75 lakhs. At the same time, there was a fierce competition between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow for Pant. Delhi Capitals first used the 'Right to Match' for Rs 20 crore 75 lakhs, but when Lucknow placed the last bid of Rs 27 crore, the Delhi team backed off. Iyer and Pant can be the captains of their respective teams in the IPL 2025 season starting from March 14.
