Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman of Rajasthan Royals, has been in the limelight throughout the IPL due to his stupendous performances. It is being said that soon he can get a place in India's ODI team. Former India coach Ravi Shastri also said in his statement that such a talented youngster should play for India as soon as possible and prepare for the World Cup.

However, RCB's wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik believes otherwise. He says that right now Jaiswal should not be taken care of in the World Cup team to be held in India this year. Yashasvi performed brilliantly in the Under-19 World Cup in the year 2020, scoring 400 runs in six matches, which included a century and four half-centuries. Yashasvi batted well in the last season of IPL as well and will continue the same form in IPL 2023 as well.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri had said that if any player is ruled out due to injury, Yashasvi should be replaced in the World Cup squad. In response to this, Dinesh Karthik expressed his displeasure and said - If we talk about the World Cup to be held this year, then it will be too early for him. Instead of this year's ODI World Cup, Yashasvi should focus on next year's T20 World Cup and I don't think the selectors should be in a hurry to include him in the ODI team.

Karthik said - Now he is a young boy. They should focus on formats like T20. India will get to play only a few ODIs before the World Cup. I think he will prove to be a game-changer for India in next year's T20 World Cup.

In ODIs, both Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have got a chance to open the innings with Rohit Sharma and Karthik feels that the team should continue with this combination for the time being. Karthik said- India has no dearth of openers. The team has done very well with the opening pair of Rohit and Shubman. I think after the World Cup, Yashasvi will be a consistent ODI and T20 player. You guys shouldn't be in a hurry for the World Cup. I think Ishan Kishan, who has impressed a lot, is also waiting for his chance in the team.

Karthik said- I just feel that whenever Yashasvi gets a chance, it should be for a long time because he is a special player. This he has shown us in IPL. But if we talk about international cricket, it is a completely different level. For now, he should be given a chance in T20s, and by the time the ODI World Cup gets over, he will be ready to play ODIs and T20s.

IPL 2023 was memorable for Yashasvi. In 14 matches, he scored 625 runs at an average of 48.07 and a strike rate of 163.61. He also scored a century and five half-centuries, with a best score of 124. Karthik was also impressed by other young batsmen in IPL 2023. Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Tilak Verma have all had impressive performances in the IPL and are all candidates to play in next year's T20 World Cup, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Karthik said- I don't think any of the youngsters are ready for the ODI World Cup to be held this year. But would definitely like to see players like Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Yashasvi, and Tilak Verma in the next World Cup. These four players are doing very well and will soon be knocking on the doors of the Indian team. I have no doubt that if they are groomed keeping the T20 format in mind, they will do exceptionally well in the future.
