IPL 2023 is slowly going to reach its conclusion. Playoff matches are starting today. Four matches including the final will be played in the playoffs. The teams of Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will be face to face in the first qualifier on Tuesday. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants will face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Wednesday. After this, Qualifier-2 will be played on Friday. The final is to be played on Sunday. After 11 years, this has happened in the IPL when the captains of all four teams reaching the playoffs or the last four are Indians. Earlier this happened only once in 2012. Let's know...

First, know how the matches are played in the playoffs?
The top four teams in the league round advance to the playoffs. The first and second-place teams get two chances to reach the finals. At the same time, every match is a virtual knockout for the third and fourth-placed teams. The 1st and 2nd placed teams play Qualifier-1, while the 3rd and 4th placed teams play the Eliminator. The winning team in Qualifier-1 directly advances to the final. Whereas, the losing team has to play Qualifier-2 with the winning team in the Eliminator. The journey of the losing team in the Eliminator ends. The winning team in Qualifier-2 reaches the final, while the losing team's journey ends.

In IPL, the rule of reaching the final under the qualifiers came in 2011. Before that, the last four matches were played on the lines of the semi-finals. Since 2008, this has happened only twice – in 2012 and 2023 – when all four teams reaching the last four have been captained by an Indian player. In the rest of the season, there has always been a foreign captain in the last four. Let us know which teams made it to the playoffs from IPL 2008 to 2023 and who was their captain-

So far, out of 15 seasons, this has happened in 12 seasons when the teams won the title under the leadership of the Indian captain. The Mumbai team has become the champion five times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Chennai team four times under the captaincy of Dhoni, the Kolkata team twice under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, and the Gujarat Titans team once under the captaincy of Hardik. Only in 2008, Rajasthan's team Shane Warne, Deccan Chargers' team Adam Gilchrist in 2009 and Hyderabad's team in 2016 won the title under the leadership of David Warner i.e. a foreign captain. Now in this season also the team will become champion under the leadership of an Indian player.
