An eight-year-old girl died in America about 15 days after getting the anti-rabies vaccine. After receiving a letter from the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention about this vaccine administered at PGI Rohtak, the Union Health Ministry has ordered an investigation. The team has sealed the boxes of the vaccine being administered to the patients. The investigation has created panic in PGI.
Yashdeep, a resident of Srinagar Colony of the city, said that his daughter Disha was playing in the street on March 10, when a dog bit her on her cheek and lips. She was taken to PGI, where anti-rabies vaccine was administered in the emergency department. Its second dose was given on March 15 and the third on March 17.

Traces of anti-rabies vaccine found in the girl's brain When
the doctors conducted the post mortem of the body to find out the cause of death, traces of anti-rabies vaccine were found in her brain. After this, the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which works to prevent and protect against the spread of new diseases, wrote to the Indian government for an investigation. The health department team reached PGI on April 20 and checked other records including the expiry date of the vaccine. The team has sealed the vaccine box.
Now anti-rabies vaccine will be given according to weight.
The answer to whether the dose of vaccine was given in excess or in a hurry is yet to come. According to the protocol, after giving the first dose of anti-rabies, the second and third dose is given on the third and seventh day. But, here it seems that haste has been shown. Currently, PGI has changed the system and has now instructed to give the dose of vaccine according to weight. Its guideline will also be issued.
First case of its kind
Doctors at PGI say that this is the first case of finding vaccine particles in the girl's brain. No such complaint has been reported in any patient before this.
