Ratna Pathak was talking about the condition of women in India during an interview. She cited the example of Saudi Arabia in the context of women and raised the question of whether we also want to be like them.

According to Ratna Pathak, actress and wife of Naseeruddin Shah, she does not believe in fasting like Karva Chauth for the long life of her husband. She made this disclosure recently during a conversation. She was talking about the condition of women in India. She said that nothing or very few changes have happened for women in the country. According to her, the people here have become more superstitious. Here people are forced to accept and make religion a very important part of life.

On the question of fasting Karva Chauth, she said- Am I crazy?

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Ratna gave an example of an incident that happened to her. According to her, when someone asked her whether she was observing Karva Chauth fast? So her reply was, "Am I mad? Isn't it appalling that modern educated women observe Karva Chauth, praying for the life of their husbands so that they can get some validity in life? Being a widow in the Indian context It's a dreadful situation, isn't it? So that's why I will do anything to avoid becoming a widow. Really? In the 21st century, we are talking like this? Educated women are doing this?"

Ratna asked- Do we want to be like Saudi Arabia?

During the conversation, Ratna also gave the example of Saudi Arabia. She said, "What is the scope of women in Saudi Arabia? Do we want to be like Saudi Arabia? And we will be because it is more convenient for us. Women work very hard inside the house for no pay. If you have to pay for hard work, who will do it? Women are forced to live in that situation."
