Indian actress Shobhana Chandrakumar Pillai is celebrating her 52nd birthday today, she was born on March 21, 1970, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Apart from being an actress, Shobana is also a Bharatnatyam dancer. Shobhana started her career as a child artist, she acted in the 1980 film Mangala Nagi.

Apart from Malayalam films, the actress has also worked in Telugu, Tamil, some Hindi films, Kannada, and English films. She has worked in many films like Vasanth Sena, Aparna, Kanmayathu, and Yatra.

Shobhana has won two National Film Awards in her film career, apart from this she has also won the Kerala State Film Award and two Filmfare Awards.

Apart from her film career, Shobana took Bharatnatyam lessons from Chitra Visvesvaran and Padma Shubhamanyam.

In 2006, Shobhana was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India and in 2014, she was given the Kala Ratna Award by the Government of Kerala.

In the year 1994, Shobhana started the classical dance Bharatnatyam school, which was named Kalaparna.

Shobhana is not married to date, she adopted a baby girl in the year 2011, whom she named Anantha Narayani.
