Oscar Awards 2023 Contention List: Kantara, one of the most popular and successful films of last year, is now going to stake its claim at the 95th Oscar Awards. The film has found a place in the Academy Awards' contention list in two major categories, Best Picture, and Best Actor. At the same time, The Kashmir Files, one of the most successful Hindi films of 2022, has also made it to the contention list. Telugu film RRR and India's official entry Chhello Show have also reached the contention list.
Kantara director and lead actor Rishabh Shetty expressed happiness over the film making it to the contention list for the Oscars. 300 films reached the contention list
301 films from around the world have reached the contention list of the 95th Academy Awards. Films included in this list become eligible for members' voting to reach the nominations. Earlier, Rajamouli's RRR qualified for the voting of nominations in the Best Original Score category.
India's official entry Chhelo Show has also gone on the contention list. Kantara has been included as a late entry. Apart from these films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi and Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files have found a place in the contention list.

R Madhavan's Rocketry - The Nambi Effect, Irwin Nijhal, Kannada film Vikrant Rona, Marathi film Me Vasanth Rao and Tujha Saathi Kabhi Hi are included in this list. Shaunak Sen's documentaries All That Breathes and Kartiki Gonsalves' The Elephant Whispers have reached the containment list. All the films coming in the contention list will reach the nominations through voting. Voting for nominations will run from January 12-17. The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced on January 24. The award ceremony will be held on March 12 in Los Angeles.
RRR in two categories of Golden Globe
RRR is competing in two categories - Best Picture - Non-English Language and Best Original Song - at the Golden Globe Awards to be held on January 10 (January 11 in India). Experts believe that if RRR wins at the Golden Globe Awards, it will strengthen the film's claim at the Oscar Awards.
