Well-known Bollywood star Ajay Devgan has won the National Film Award for the third time. Tamil language "Soorarai Pottru" won the National Awards for Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress at the 68th National Film Awards announced for 2020. The same "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" starring Ajay Devgn won the Best Actor and Best Popular Entertainer Film awards.

Directed by Om Raut, "Tanhaji..." is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, the commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army. Nachiket Barve and Mahesh Sherla also won the Best Costume Designer award for the film based on the 17th century. Devgn shared the Best Actor award with Suriya. Surya was given this award for “Soorarai Potru”. The film is inspired by the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. Aparna Balamurali won the Best Actress Award for the same film.

Ajay Devgan expressed happiness
Expressing happiness on winning the National Film Award, Ajay Devgan said- "I am very excited to win the National Film Award for Best Actor for Tanhaji, which I won with Suriya, he got the award for Soorarai Potru. I thank everyone, Most of all my creative team, audience, and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents and almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the winners".

Actor Devgan has already been awarded
Bollywood actor Devgn has won the National Award for Best Actor in the past for his strong roles in "Zakhm" (1998) and "The Legend of Bhagat Singh" (2002). The actor said that he is extremely happy to receive the award for the third time. Raut, who made his directorial debut with "Tanhaji", said in a statement, "A film is not the result of the efforts of an individual but its entire team. This award is for every person who worked for Tanhaji. I am glad that our film got commercial success and appreciation."

G V Prakash Kumar also won the award
Shalini Usha Nair and director Sudha Kongara won Best Screenplay and GV Prakash Kumar for Best Music Director (Background Score) for "Soorarai Potaru". Late Malayalam filmmaker Satchidanandan KR was posthumously declared the best director for "AK Ayyappanam Koshiyam". Biju Menon won the Best Supporting Actor award for the film. The film also won the award for Best Action Direction (Stunt Choreography). Nanchamma won the Best Playback Singer award for "A K Ayyappanam Koshiyam".

Best playback singer award for Rahul Deshpande
Rahul Deshpande won the Best Playback Singer Award for the Marathi film "Me Vasantrao". Tamil artist Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli won the Best Supporting Actress award for the Tamil film "Sivaranjanyam Innam Sila Pengallam". Sreekar Prasad was given the National Award for Best Editing for the same film. Best Hindi film award went to Tulsidas Junior directed by Mridul Tulsidas. The film, produced under the banner of Ashutosh Gowariker, saw late actor Rajiv Kapoor on screen for the last time. Child artist Varun Buddhadev was given the 'Special Jury Mention award for this film.

Vishal Bhardwaj also won the award
In the music category, Thaman S won the Best Music Direction (Song) award for Allu Arjun's Telugu hit "Ala Vaikunthapuramulu", while Manoj Muntashir for the Hindi film "Saina" won the Best Lyricist Award. Director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj won the Best Music Direction award for the song "Marenge To Wahi Jaar" from filmmaker Vinod Kapri's film "1232 Kilometers". "1232 Kilometers" is a documentary about the exodus of migrant workers during the lockdown. Kapri told PTI that Bharadwaj and veteran lyricist Gulzar is the "soul of the film". The 10-member jury for the National Awards was chaired by Hindi filmmaker Vipul Shah. Jury member Dharam Gulati announced the awards.
