Meta launched its new microblogging app Threads on the 6th of July. Meta has launched this application to compete with Twitter. Threads app was downloaded by more than 50 million people in a day. Several political personalities from India have joined Threads. The names of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Transport and Road Minister Nitin Gadkari are included in this list.

The list includes director Karan Johar, cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, and Suresh Raina, actresses Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Taapsee Pannu, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal Thakur, Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra and actors Abhishek Bachchan, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR: Many celebrities including Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu and Ali Fazal are included. Official accounts of Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, and Yash Raj Films have also appeared in the thread. Others who have joined the app include spiritual gurus Sadhguru and Gaur Gopal Das.
