A wedding ceremony in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, turned into a chaotic scene when a dispute erupted over the traditional 'Juta Churai' ritual, resulting in the bride and groom parting ways shortly after their marriage. The disagreement began when the bride's side and the groom's side clashed over money during the ritual where the groom’s shoes are stolen by the bride’s relatives, and money is demanded in exchange.
The incident took place in the village of Sarai Alam, located in the Nangal police station area. Two wedding processions had arrived at the venue, one from Chandpur and another from Najibabad. While the first procession proceeded without any issues, tensions flared during the second one involving Rizwan, the groom from Harshwada village.
The problem arose after the Nikaah (marriage ceremony) was completed, and during the 'Juta Churai' ritual, where the bride's relatives stole the groom’s shoes. However, this time, an argument broke out over the amount of money to be paid for the return of the shoes. The bride's side demanded ₹15,000, while the groom's side offered only ₹5,000. The disagreement quickly escalated, leading to the bride's family holding the entire baraat hostage.
The situation worsened to the point that, in the midst of this altercation, the bride and groom decided to divorce, which led to a case of triple talaq. The local police were called to the scene, and they intervened to mediate between the two parties. A compromise was eventually reached, but in the end, the baraat returned without the bride.
