The UAE is ready to host the IPL. The matches will be held on three grounds here. There will be 24 matches in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi, and 12 in Sharjah. Dubai and Abu Dhabi Stadium were lighted on Tuesday. The opening match between Mumbai-Chennai Super Kings will take place at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
This ground was built in 2004 at a cost of 100 crores. The first international match was played in 2006 between India and Pakistan. 13 Tests, 46 ODIs, and 45 T20 Internationals have been played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. India has not played any T20 here.
BCCI joins sports radar to prevent corruption in IPL
BCCI will use the Fraud Detection Service (FDS) to stop betting and fixing in IPL 2020. For this, the board has tied up with UK company Sports Radar. The Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) is already in UAE.
Sports Radar also works with large football institutions such as FIFA and Uefa. Recently the same company had talked about fixing in about 6 matches of the Goa Football League. The company exposes the fixing in the match with the help of the feds.
Rituraj of Chennai out of the first match
Chennai batsman Rituraj Gaikwad, who is battling Coronavirus, has been ruled out of the tournament's first match. He has spent two weeks in Quarantine after coming positive. But two negative reports are yet to come. CEO Kasi Vishwanath said, "We are waiting for the board's decision on Rituraj. They also have to go through a fitness test. '
