Striker Mariano Diaz of Spanish football club Real Madrid has been found infected with Coronavirus. Diaz will no longer play a match against Manchester City in the Champions League on 8 August. The club has confirmed this.

The club issued a statement on Tuesday saying that some players were tested for corona on Monday. Mariano's report came out positive in this. However, they are healthy and have been isolated at home since the report came and are following the required protocol.

Mariano went on vacation after the league was over

Mariano, like the rest of the teammates, went on a holiday for a few days after the current season of La Liga ended on July 19. He is not the first player in Spain to return to football after being found Corona infected. A week ago, the Corona report of several players of the Fuenlabrada team also came positive. For this reason, the team had to cancel the second division match against Deportivo La Coruna.

Last season, Mariano played 7 matches for Real Madrid.

Mariano played just seven league matches for Real Madrid last season, scoring one goal. If Real Madrid is to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, then they will have to win against Manchester City. He was defeated 2–1 in the first leg against this team.
