The demand for complete self-rule in India was first made in the Congress session of Lahore in December 1929. Its president was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The full Swarajya resolution was introduced in this session itself. After this, Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the flag at midnight on December 31, 1929 on the banks of the Ravi river and raised the proposal of complete self-rule. However, the British government rejected the Nehru Report. The Congress then celebrated 'Complete Independence Day' on 26 January 1930. After this, 'Complete Independence Day' was celebrated on 26 January every year.
