Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has awarded the contract for the tunnel route under the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project to a Chinese company. It is being told that the contract for the construction of a 5.6 km underground route from New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad has been given to the Chinese company Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company. The NCRTC said that the contract has been awarded as per the laid down procedure and guidelines.NCRTC issued a statement saying that bids funded by multilateral agencies have to be approved at various levels. The contract is allotted only after the prescribed guidelines. It said that tenders have been given for all civil works of the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad Meerut corridor. The work is going on fast to complete the project on time. There was a controversy last year over STEC's bidding for the construction of the 5.6-km tunnel of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project amidst ongoing tension over LAC in eastern Ladakh.The 82-km-long RRTS corridor between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut is being developed by the Asian Development Bank. In this, the procurement process is being conducted under the guidelines of the bank and the government. Explain that the NCRTC invited bids for the construction of a tunnel from New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor in 2019. The 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is the first RRTS corridor in the country.
