What is Ashwagandha?

There are many types of ashwagandha in different countries but rubbing its plants to identify the real ashwagandha smells like a horseshoe. This smell is more prevalent in the fresh roots of Ashwagandha. The quality of ashwagandha grown in agriculture is superior to the properties found in forest plants. Ashwagandha plant found in the forests is also considered good for extracting oil.

Small smell

Due to its small shrub, it is called Chota Ashwagandha but its root is large. It is more common in Nagaur, Rajasthan, and is particularly effective due to its environmental impact. Hence it is also called Nagauri Ashwagandha.

Big or desi smell

The bush is large but the roots are small and thin. It is common in gardens and hilly areas.


In Ayurveda, ashwagandha is used as its leaves and powder. If Ashwagandha has countless benefits then it also has its disadvantages, because taking it without the advice of a doctor can cause many physical problems.

Effective in white hair: Take 2-4 grams of Ashwagandha churan. This helps in correcting the problem of prematurely white hair.

Eyesight: Make a powder by mixing 2 grams ashwagandha, 2 grams carrot, and 1 gram carrot. Take one spoon of Ashwagandha Churan with water in the morning and evening. This makes the eyes glow.

Sore Throat: Ashwagandha is beneficial in throat diseases due to its medicinal properties. Mix equal quantity of Ashwagandha powder and old jaggery and take it daily with water in the morning. Make a paste of Ashwagandha leaves. Apply it on the throat, it will give relief from throat diseases.

Useful in tuberculosis

Take 2 grams ashwagandha churan with 20 grams ashwagandha decoction. It is beneficial in TB. Make churan from the root of Ashwagandha. Mix 2 grams of churan and 1 gram of Pippali pieces, chili powder, 5 grams ghee, and 5 grams honey. Its intake is effective in TB disease.

Cure cough

Beat the roots of Ashwagandha by 10 grams. Add 10 grams of corn to it and cook in 400 milligrams of water. When one-eighth of it is left, take it down from the fire. Take it daily. It is also very useful in coughs caused by TB.

Pain in chest

Drink 2 grams of crushed ashwagandha root with water. This will give relief from chest pain.

Stomach Disease

You can also take advantage of crushing ashwagandha in stomach diseases. Ashwagandha churan can also be consumed in stomach diseases. Add an equal amount of uncooked churan to Ashwagandha churan. Taking 2-4 grams quantity with jaggery also kills stomach worms.

Constipation: Crushing 2 grams ashwagandha or taking it with lukewarm water provides relief from constipation.
